Let’s Go Utah!

We are encouraged that the number of teens who vape has gone down from 5.4M teens to 3.6M teens, according to the latest National Youth Tobacco Survey. However, now is not the time to stop fighting! Let’s not forget that in 2018, with 3.6 million teens vaping, both the FDA and the Surgeon General declared this number "epidemic”.

Of these 3.6 million teens who vape, MORE KIDS WHO USE E-CIGARETTES ARE BECOMING ADDICTED. 38.9% of high school e-cigarette users reported using these products on 20 OR MORE days a month – a strong sign of addiction. What’s more, among all current youth e-cigarette users, more than 8 out of 10 - almost 83% -- report use of flavored products, with fruit, mint, candy, and menthol among the most commonly used, and over the last year there has been 1000% increase in the use of disposable vaping products among high school e-cigarette users (and a 400% increase among middle school users!)

Make your voice heard. Tell your representative that flavored vaping products have no place in our children’s lives. The percentage of high school e-cigarette users reporting frequent use has steadily increased – from 15.5% in 2014 and 27.2% in 2018, to 38.9% today!

Ask your representative to tell Big Tobacco to stop preying upon our children with slick vaping products designed to get kids addicted to nicotine. Their campaigns to peddle enticing flavors like bubblegum and cotton candy, mint and menthol to our children has been so successful that Big Tobacco has rapidly reversed years of progress to bring down teen smoking rates. Ask your representative to tell them to stop!

Send a clear message to Utah’s leadership. We will not stand by while Big Tobacco attempts to lure yet another generation into a lifetime of nicotine addiction and tobacco-related disease and death.
